Mullins Creek Restoration

Fayetteville, AR

The University of Arkansas contacted MCE to complete a detailed site/civil design to restore approximately 800 linear feet of Mullins Creek between West Ladyback Drive and 6th Street. With the assistance of Watershed Conservation Resource Center as a subconsultant, the team completed a geomorphological assessment and topographical survey of the existing site conditions to utilize in a restoration design.

MCE also evaluated the existing parking lot and stormwater runoff conveyance to incorporate low impact development practices to treat surface stormwater of pollutants and allow runoff to infiltrate into the existing soil. The design incorporates green infrastructure and plant life to reduce the overall flow, volume, and velocity of water entering the stream to reduce downstream erosion and help restore the stream to its optimal conditions.

The project was completed September 2025 at a total cost of $1 million.
