In 2017, MCE won the award for Outstanding New Construction in a Historic Setting from Preserve Arkansas for the Cameron Bluff Amphitheater. MCE provided engineering services to the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism for the reconstruction of a historic amphitheater positioned on the western edge of Cameron Bluff in the Mount Magazine State Park. The area of the bluff offers a west-facing panorama of Mt. Magazine’s North Rim and the Arkansas Valley. Originally built in 1939, but, due to deterioration was abandoned by the 1970s. MCE designed the reconstruction plans of Cameron Bluff referencing the original blueprints and historic data.
MCE also won the Infrastructure Award from the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce for the Stadium Drive Improvement Project. MCE provided roadway design services to the University of Arkansas for work on Stadium Drive, between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Meadow Street. The design included approximately 4,000 linear feet of two-lane roadway with parallel parking, associated storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water line design, along with the design of two mini-roundabouts. The roundabouts were proposed by MCE as they will provide for a more compact footprint that can accommodate cars as well as semi-truck traffic and buses through the use of mountable islands.
